Ride to: Point Leo and Flinders

Start Finish:

Sunday, 20 January, 2013 - 09:00 to 14:00

Distance:

190km

Stops:

Cafe J'adore 504 Centre Rd Bentleigh (near the corner of Centre and Jasper Rds), Point Leo, Flinders

Captain:

Sam Blumenstein

Plan:

The weather is looking great for this ride. We will leave the coffee shop NO LATER than 9.00am

Get there early, fully fuelled and have breakfast. We will proceed directly down North Rd. to Wellington Rd. and on to Emerald and Cockatoo.

Then via the back roads through Woori Yallock and into Healesville. We will have a pish/fuel stop there and whoever wants to can have a coffee and a snack.

We'll proceed to the Black Spur and right to the Marysville Rd. An early lunch in Marysville and we can decide the return route from Marysville. We have the

option of Reefton or back via the Black Spur. A decision will be based on traffic conditions and the number of riders who need to get back home sooner rather than later.

Return ride will be either via Gembrook or Cockatoo and onto the Packenham road to the M1.

Report:

Marysville became Flinders!!!

With very few people turning up today on this beautiful riding day the original destination was replaced with Flinders for one of those delicious donuts. As I was leaving at 9.10am Wayne arrived and followed along with Mark.

The three of us had a great ride taking in the new M11 freeway to the peninsula. Frankly, I couldn't wait to get off it. Too many Sunday drivers hogging both lanes. We came into Balnarring the back way and turned 10kms before Flinders on the Point Leo Rd. and down to the beach there. What a great little spot. We shmoozed there for a while. Took off to flinders for a drink and donut.

Back home via Red Hill and the old road through to the Frankston Freeway. Now with the new freeway open the old road was very light on traffic and I think I've never had such a pleasant ride home from there. Thankyou new freeway for taking all the stupid car traffic off the old road.

About 190kms and a great days ride.
